Controversy exists as to the effects of maijuana on vision and eye health. A recent study shows that marijuana may stimulate retinal cells to assist with night vision.
There is some evidence that shows that marijuana may lower eye pressures to aid in glaucoma treatment. While marijuana may be able to decrease the pressure a little bit (for a very short period of time) but at the same time the drug is acting on the brain and nervous system in ways that may be harmful.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology does not support the use of marjuana for treating glaucoma.
