Glaucoma - Studies Show Higher IOP in Winter Months

Intraocular pressure (IOP) and visual field sensitivity peak in the winter months, especially in people with early glaucoma, according to data presented at the 2012 ARVO meeting. The seasonal effect was much larger in regions with more extreme seasonal variations in weather such as the DC Metro area. If you or anyone you know has glaucoma, please make sure to go your glaucoma testing and form measurements of your intraocular pressure this winter to protect against permanent vision and visual field loss.
